SERVING FIVE GREAT STATES AND THE WORLD WIDE WEB
Passing Time, Waiting for Passing Trains
What to take pictures of while waiting for trains? Waiting for trains can become boring and frustrating after waiting in one spot for awhile. We've learned that you have to be patient if we want to get our shot! Here we were at sunset, losing the sun and not a train to be seen or heard of. After you know how you want to photograph the train, you've set up your shot, made some practice shots, now what do you do? I find all kinds of things to photograph while waiting for trains. Some work, some don't, but it fills up the time until the train comes, but you have to be careful, because it also fills up your memory. Train photography is very much like wildlife photography, in both fields we have to wait for the perfect moment to get our shot. But, us train photographers do have one advantage over wildlife photographers, we can here our big animal coming most times and have lots of warnings to reset up the shot. And that's a good thing! I especially like it if we are waiting for trains close to the station. And boy oh boy, do I have a good time while waiting by signals or bridges! And of course, I like my mushots. -K.C.
